St. Michael Catholic School in Belleville welcomed representatives from Norway’s Nord University and Queen's University. The ALCDSB, with the aforementioned universities have partnered to continue the Canada-Norway Pedagogy Partnership for Innovation and Inclusion in Education (CANOPY) project.
CANOPY aims to provide teacher education students, university faculty, and school staff with opportunities to develop global competencies through international collaborations.
The CANOPY Project has selected innovation and inclusion as its guiding principles and has identified four priority areas that, through collaboration and cooperation, will enhance teacher education programs, schools, and policy:
1. Educational Leadership (2020/21)
2. Digital Innovation and Educational Technology (2022)
3. Indigenous Studies, Diversity, and Inclusion (2023)
4. Exceptional Learners (2024)
By approaching these areas through a combination of educational research, classroom experience, student/staff mobility, and institutional management, this project aims to cultivate a more holistic and international perspective on teaching and learning at all levels.
