Jurisdiction for this position includes Tweed, Marmora/Lake, Hastings Highlands, Stirling-Rawdon, Bancroft, Centre Hastings, Highlands East, Faraday, Madoc, Wollaston, Limerick, Tudor Cashel, Carlow/Mayo, South Algonquin.

- Canadian Citizen
- Catholic

- Reside in the ALCDSB jurisdiction
- Be able to provide a valid Criminal Background Check

- Personal Statement as to why they want to serve as a Catholic School Board Trustee.
- Qualified Candidates will be invited to make a brief presentation to the Board of Trustees at an upcoming meeting in October.
The deadline to apply is Friday, October 4, 2024, 4 p.m.
The Role of a School Board Trustee:
- Trustees play a key leadership role in ensuring that schools operate within the standards established by the province, and that programs and services remain responsive to the diverse communities they serve.
- Trustees attend regular meetings of the Board (twice monthly) and serve on Board standing committees (such as Audit Committee, Parent Involvement Committee, SEAC). Their role is to ensure that Board employees are following the policies that govern board and school operations. Trustees can receive questions and concerns from members of the public on issues related to neighborhood matters, board agenda items, policies, budget, and collective bargaining.
- English-language Catholic district school boards have the same obligations, duties, rights, and privileges under the Education Act as public-school boards. In addition, Catholic boards seek to provide a learning experience that allows students to develop their particular skills and individual talents, and to realize their uniqueness as children of God, and as brothers and sisters to every person in the world.
