St. Joseph Catholic School has been chosen as one of 150 locations across Canada to plant a tulip garden in celebration of Canada's 150th birthday in 2017.
On October 27, the St. Joseph Catholic School community came together to plant the 1,000 red and white tulips in the shape of a Canadian flag. The tulips were awarded to the school by Vesey's Bulbs of PEI and the Canadian Garden Council as part of a national contest. The new garden is next to the public walkway that goes through the school property.
Students, staff, board members and community members were all part of the planting of the bulbs. During the welcome assembly, Mrs. Greer, principal of St. Joseph Catholic School said that all guests would be invited back in the spring to see the tulip garden.
The Canadian Garden Council will feature and promote the 150 - '150th Celebration Gardens' on Canada's Garden Routewww.canadasgardenroute.ca.
