Each year the Grade 8 class at St. Joseph Catholic School come together to work on a Legacy Project. This year, Mrs. Bonin's class decided to add a Peace Pole in their court yard for their legacy project.
The class worked with a local business owner, John Campbell from Quinte Welding, who delivered the peace pole and asked for no payment. Instead, he asked that all money that was fundraised to purchase the peace pole would go towards a charity of the class's choice. As an ambassador class for the Alzheimer Society, this meant that $1,705 would be donated to the Alzheimer Society. Part of this donation was also raised at the "Walk for Alzheimer's" Hastings Prince-Edward on May 29. All 28 students in one form or another participated and 15 students were able to walk and work the event.
