Alongside OneMatch Cell and Marrow Network and Canadian Blood Services, Mackenzie organized a day where students were able to visit a variety of stations in the cafeteria to learn about stem cell, organ and blood donations.

Mackenzie, a Holy Cross student, was diagnosed two years ago with myelodyplastic syndrome. Through OneMatch Stem Cell and Marrow Network Mackenzie was able to find a donor in November 2013.
At one of the stations at the event, students were able to swab their cheeks and register their cells with the national database, where Mackenzie was able to find her match.

She was matched with a man from Germany, Alexander Turk, who saved her life and is now visiting Canada to meet Mackenzie and her family.
