Mental Health & Wellness Day a Huge Success at St. Carthagh

April 06, 2016

Students in circle for restorative practiceOn April 6, grades 6,7,8 students from St. Carthagh Catholic School (Tweed) and Sacred Heart Catholic School (Marmora) participated in a Mental Health and Wellness Day. The half day included six stations around St. Carthagh Catholic School; these included zumba, a presentation from Canadian Mental Health, restorative circle, drumming, meditation and a healthy snack station.

Ms. Hughes, the organizer of the activities says she hopes these activities help give students an understanding of mental health and wellness and how they can help themselves and others throughout their adolescence.

Students were divided into six groups and spent the morning moving throughout the stations. They will then take what they learned back to their classrooms and act as leaders in mental health and wellbeing for other students.

Thank you to all the volunteers and  guests that attended the Mental Health and Wellness Day.
