The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce the appointment of David DeSantis as Director of Education.
David will join the ALCDSB community in January, as the current Director of Education, Jody DiRocco will be retiring on January 31, 2019.
As a senior leader and educator, David has worked with the Halton and Waterloo Catholic District School Boards for over 20 years as a Department Head of Business, Secondary School Vice-Principal, Principal, Assistant Superintendent of Education: Student Success and Superintendent of Learning with portfolios in Student Success, Leadership, 21st Century Teaching and Learning and Safe Schools.
Most recently in 2017, David was seconded to the Ministry of Education as a Team Lead for the Student Achievement Supports Branch within the Student Achievement Division. His work included strategic planning and reporting for Early Years Learning, Student Success, School Effectiveness and the Renewed Math Strategy for the province of Ontario.
David is a loving husband and father of five children ranging in age from 17-22 and a precocious German Short-Haired Pointer. He is passionate about hockey, reading, fitness and a very committed lifelong learner.
He is very much looking forward to an energized and deeply committed entry plan that will include building relationships with trustees, senior and board staff, administrators, the clergy, parents, union groups and as many staff and students as possible in all 42 Catholic Learning Communities.
