The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce that the Ministry of Education has provided almost $22 million in capital funding to the Board.
ALCDSB will be opening a new dual track English and French Immersion Catholic elementary school in the Woodhaven subdivision (Kingston West area), which will include four new child care rooms and three EarlyON child and family rooms. This $14.3 million project will be constructed to accommodate 481 students.
In addition, the Ministry will provide $7.3 million in funding to redevelop St. Joseph Catholic School in Belleville by constructing an addition to the school. This includes replacement of the older two storey wing.
"The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board is pleased to receive this significant funding announcement, which will address our growing needs in Kingston and Belleville," says John Brisbois, Chair of the Board. "It is such an exciting time for our Board and I look forward to meeting the needs of our students as we continue to grow and innovate in Catholic education."
Both projects are currently set to be completed for September 2020.
These two projects are part of Ontario's investment of $784 million to build 39 new schools and renovate and expand another 40.
