June 02, 2015

Students wearing their new bike helmets.Recently the Central Hastings O.P.P. provided bicycle safety lessons to the grade 3 class at St. Carthagh Catholic School in Tweed. Their discussion with the students focused on equipment that is required by law such as helmets, bells or horns, lights and reflective tape as well as safe biking practices on the roadways. Students also learned how to do an ABC safety check on their bikes to ensure they have air in their tires and their brakes and chain are functioning properly. They were told about the #1 rule of bike safety – Always Wear a Helmet. Thanks to the generous support of the Central Hastings Community Policing Advisory Committee (CPAC), the grade 3 students each received a brand new bicycle helmet.
