Applying to College

The online application at www.ontariocolleges.ca is the quickest and easiest way to apply to an Ontario college. To begin an application, new users must select “Apply”. Click on "Create an Account" and fill in the information requested and create a username and password. Click on “submit”, and your account has been created.

After logging on the application with your username and password, fill in your personal information and educational history and add your preferences. Note that some collaborative college-university programs require you to apply through the Ontario Universities’ Application Center (OUAC). The deadline for equal consideration by the colleges is February 1. It is strongly recommended that students apply by December 15. Students may continue to submit applications to OCAS after the February 1 date, but the application will be considered by the colleges on a first-come, first-served basis. Students also need their OEN which can be found on their credit summary provided by Student Services, or the report card.

The $95 non-refundable application processing fee covers all college and program choice changes made to the original application. You may apply to up to five programs, with no more than three program choices at any one college. The colleges will consider all the program choices listed equally. Be sure to list your choices in order of preference, as the colleges use this information for statistical purposes. The applications submitted without the non-refundable fee will not be forwarded to your college choices. The date the payment is received at OCAS will be considered as the date your application is received at OCAS. Payment can be made online by VISA, MasterCard or American Express using the secure online payment form. Direct (phone) or online banking is also available. If you are paying by telephone using your credit card, call the Customer Contact Centre (519-763-4725). You may also mail a credit card payment, money order or certified cheque by completing and returning the online payment form found on the payment section of the online application.

When you complete your online application, an OCAS application number will be assigned to you electronically. This number is a unique identifier that helps OCAS track your application through the application process. You will need to keep your OCAS application number handy so that you can provide it if you need to contact OCAS. Print a copy of your application for your records.

You can make changes or check the status of your application online. From the OCAS homepage, select “Apply Online” and then enter your username and password.

The student should keep in mind the following responsibilities:
  • research college sites and program choices
  • schedule a campus tour or visit college open houses
  • complete the online application at www.ontariocolleges.ca by the February 1 deadline (December 15 is the recommended date)
  • keep a record of your username, password and your OCAS application number
  • pay the $95 non-refundable application processing fee
  • print a copy of your application for your records
  • submit supporting documents or write proficiency tests as requested
  • make changes to your application online if necessary
  • verify your grades and academic information online in early December, early March, mid-May and mid-July
  • confirm your acceptance of an offer online by the expiry date indicated by the college.
